"The Beginning of a Tradition"
A Total Art Experience for the Desert

Once again, Action Council for 29 Palms, Inc. has stepped up to fill a void by providing anouther Total Art Experience for their friends and supporters within the morongo Basin, and beyond.

This year out organization proposes to produce a world-class event that has something great and different for each and every member of their families...introducing the 1st annual Chalk-Fest 29, which is just what the name implies.

The City of Twentynine Palms is graciously allowing Action Council to close down Adobe Road, smack dab in the heart of Twentynine Palms, Downtown, between Joshua Drive on the south and Buena Vista Drive on the north end. This beautiful two (2) block stretch of street in the heart of Twentynine Palms, will be transformed into a palette; both for the myriad chalk colors of the rainbow, and hands on artistic experiences for young and old alike.

The festivities will kick-off on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with the shut-down of Adobe Road; wherein all subsequent through traffic will be diverted via well marked alternate routes. The juncture of Gorgonio Drive will also be closed. All roads will remain closed until approximately 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 7, 2010.

Thanks to an extremely smooth fresh slurry coat of asphalt applied to the section of Adobe Road between Gorgonio Drive and Joshua Drive, transforming the sun-bleached street into a color – heightening canvas that will enhance and bring out the brilliant range of color laid down by our invited cadre of world-class artists; with canvas areas ranging from the smallest, 6’-0” x 6’-0” to the largest 12’-0” x 12’-0”…..while, by the way, are just the right size if a church or other non-profit organization want to get together and tackle a canvas of their own. (this is a great way to draw attention to your cause and a great way to build group solidarity).
